The John Odigie-Oyegun Public Service Academy (JOOPSA) has honored 10 staff of the Edo State government for distinguishing themselves in efficient service delivery.
The Director General (DG) of the institute, Ms. Precious Imuwahen Ajoonu, who conferred the award of excellence on the workers at the weekend urged them to strive for public good at all times.
The institute also honored three partners, including a seasoned journalists, Adeyinka Adedipe at the JOOPSA Open House: Cocktail and Award Night” which held at the weekend in Benin City.
Imuwahen said the institute was established by governor Godwin Obaseki to foster professionalism and excellence in public service, with a vision to cultivate a service that is responsive, efficient, and accountable.
She also emphasised that the academy’s mission is to empower civil servants with critical skills for today’s complex governance challenges.
The DG noted: “We believe in the potential of every civil and public servant, to lead with integrity and competence, and we are here to nurture that potential.”
Imuwahen who on the occasion unveiled a book she titled: “The Hero Inside” described the text as a profound exploration into the essence of self-awareness, character and courage as foundational pillars for a fulfilling life.
Also, in a paper presentation on Strategic Leadership, a Professor in the University of Benin, Ibrahim Shaibu, urged participants to embrace critical thinking and commit to life-long learning.
The don emphasised the importance of skills-like strategic planning, empathy in leadership, and resilience.
