Donald Trump BOLDLY claims he can resolve $1.3 billion worth PGA Tour-LIV Golf deal in 15 minutes

President-elect Donald Trump has once again made a bold claim regarding golf. In a recent podcast appearance, the 47th POTUS claimed he could resolve the PGA Tour-LIV Golf deal. Trump boldly declared the amount of time he requires as well.

The war between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf started in October 2021. It was when the Public Investment Fund (PIF) backed circuit formally started. However, in June 2023, Jay Monahan and Yasir Al-Rumayyan, the top bosses of the two tours, came together and announced a merger deal.

Trump, an avid golf supporter, recently appeared on the Let’s Go podcast alongside Jim Gray and Bill Belichick. The hosts asked if he could do anything to make the merger deal progress.

Trump would initially claim he would be busy with other important things if he gets re-elected. However, he did insist that he could get the reported $1.3 billion deal between the two tours done.

Well, I’m going to really work on other things, to be honest with you… I think we have much bigger problems than that… But I think it’ll come together. Yeah, I could certainly help, but I could probably get it done. I would say it would take me the better part of 15 minutes to get that deal done.

According to recent reports from The Sun, the deal between the two tours has been finalized. As per the report, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy have played a huge part in this, and LIV will reportedly play its events under the PGA Tour umbrella and get an 11 percent stake in the Tour.

Donald Trump claims LIV Golfers are happy with their decision to leave the PGA Tour

When some of the big names of the PGA Tour and DP World Tour joined LIV Golf, there were some huge sanctions and fines imposed. This led to reports of some of them being unhappy with their decision. Donald Trump, though, waved away this and claimed that LIV Golfers are happy with their decision.

During this appearance at the Let’s Go podcast, Trump endorsed the breakaway tour and stated that there were some top players there and they were happy with the Saudis.

There’s a lot of great, great players on LIV, beyond great. There’s top, top players on LIV and it would be nice if they can all play together. And it’s terrible when somebody is shut out of a major, it’s terrible. But they’re very happy with Saudis. They’re over there and they’re very happy about it. They really are. It’s amazing. You speak to them and they’re happy with their decisions. They’ve made more money than they probably could ever of made.

Recently, Cameron Smith opened up about his move to the 54-hole circuit. In an interview with Herald Sun, the Australian golfer stated that leaving the PGA Tour was the best decision of his life. The 2022 Open Championship winner pointed out the difference in schedule between the two tours and how much that had helped him.
