Dale Earnhardt Jr. claims stock-racing drivers are “getting more brazen, less respectful”

Unlike in the past, the NASCAR racer and drivers have become more aggressive on the track. The cars becoming safer and structurally sound, alongside new aerodynamic factors owing to the design has made it impossible to just relay on pure pace to pass rivals on the track. This has made senior racers to be very critical of the new generations of racers over racing etiquette.

Recently NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. talked about the over aggressive racing. While discussing a recent comment from Martin Truex Jr. in the recent episode of his podcast, he asserted that the cup level has become super aggressive, and the lower tiers are getting much worse. He also highlighted that things are really worse at the grassroots level.

I hear what he’s saying. I do agree — in the Cup level, at the end of that race, super aggressive. If you drop down, Xfinity, Truck, it just gets so much worse. We’re seeing quite a bit of that happening now, at the late-model stock and the grassroots level.

He pointed out that there is now more aggression and physical contact in the stock car racing. The drivers are getting more disrespectful and brazen. Junior admitted that things are troubling and concerning at the moment.

There’s more aggression, more physical contact, more pushing and shoving. Drivers are getting more brazen, less respectful. That’s all true, and that’s troubling, concerning, to a point.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. added.

While further talking about the point, Junior pointed out that the drivers hate the hyper aggressive racing and added that the owners would be more pissed off. He pointed out that the owners are feeling more helpless at the time.

But if I’m a driver, I hate it. I’m like, ‘I don’t like being disrespected. I want somebody to give me a chance to make a corner.’ If I’m the owner, I’m certainly pissed off too, because I can’t control the car, can’t drive it. I feel even (more) helpless.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. said.

He further pointed out that alongside the owners, the fans are also don’t love the aggressive style of racing. But he then admitted that, though Dale Jr. has some reservations, he loves the aggressive style of racing.

But as a series owner or as a fan — maybe some fans don’t love this, but I think, for me, I love the aggression, I love the contact. I love a guy — I love there being people in the field that will put your ass in the wall.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. added.

The Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s admission, seems to be something that many casual fans would agrees with. It would be interesting to see how the racing community will approach the comments from the ex-racer.
