German tennis star Alexander Zverev won his second Masters 1000 title of the season at the Paris Masters. The newly-crowned World No. 2 defeated Ugo Humbert 6-2, 6-2 to secure this accomplishment.
Zverev wasn’t even 100% certain of participating in the Paris Masters due to medical concerns before the tournament. After his victory, he credited his team for their incredible sacrifices, not just over the past few weeks, but throughout the past couple of seasons.
I want to thank my team. The work we’ve done over the past two and a half years to be back in this position, everyone had to sacrifice so much. To be able to play on these beautiful courts again.. there was never a hundred percent guarantee that I’d be back at this level after Roland Garros two years ago when I basically broke everything in my ankle that’s possible. To win the title here in Paris means the world to me but I’m sure it also means the world to everybody sitting in my box. They’ve done so much to help me lift this title.

The year 2022 was extremely challenging for Zverev. The two-time Grand Slam finalist suffered a severe foot injury in the Roland Garros semi-finals against Rafael Nadal, which sidelined him for the rest of the season. Now he appears to be back in contention for major titles, competing alongside Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.
Zverev has also overcome the heartbreak of Paris, following his loss to Alcaraz in the Roland Garros final. He is the only player this season to win a Masters 1000 title on multiple surfaces.

Alexander Zverev did not allow for a fairytale ending for the French crowd at the Rolex Paris Masters. On Sunday (November 3), the 27-year-old had his own story to complete.
I knew I had to play like this to win today. Ugo is an incredible player, but here in Paris, he plays even better than he usually does and I knew that. Once the crowd gets involved, it’s going to be difficult. So, I had to take that away early, and I did, so I’m happy about that.

Zverev, ranked No. 2 in the PIF ATP Live Rankings, delivered a dominant performance to beat Ugo Humbert 6-2, 6-2 in the final. He was especially strong on his serve, dropping just five points, according to Infosys ATP Stats. This victory earned him his seventh ATP Masters 1000 title.
The match marked the last edition of the tournament at the Accor Arena before it moves to La Défense Arena. Zverev became the second German to win in Paris, following Boris Becker. This was also his second title of 2024, after winning in Rome. With 66 wins this season, he overtook Jannik Sinner’s record of 65.
Ugo Humbert, competing in his first ATP Masters 1000 final, was unable to match Zverev’s level. The 26-year-old hoped to be the first Frenchman to win in Paris since Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in 2008. Despite his efforts, he fell short, bringing his record in finals to 6-2.
