5 captivating reality TV shows to watch instead of the US election

Donald Trump and Kamala Harris may be dominating social media and TV channels during the US election. But if the seriousness of politics is too much for you, sit back and watch these reality shows…

While it’s important to vote, it can be heavy when everyone’s talking about the US election. Regardless of who you want to become America’s new president, there’s plenty of real other people to gossip about, such as all the drama going down on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.

Reality shows to watch instead of US election

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City

RHOSLC has been full of drama this season. It’s mainly been centred around Whitney Rose and her husband feuding with Lisa Barlow and her spouse, John, after she accused Barlow of spreading rumors.

If you haven’t watched the Bravo series before, it follows a group of glamorous party-loving Salt Lake City housewives who are either getting along amazingly, or essentially throwing serious shade at each other.

1000-lb Sisters

Tammy and Amy Slaton have been trying to lose weight for years. 1000-lb Sisters follows their journey as they try to get skin removal surgery, having both lost hundreds of lbs since 2020.

Their siblings are often featured on the TLC show, while their personal sisterly relationship – including big fights – provides for great entertainment. This season, Tammy and Amy are getting a makeover.

Moonshiners

If you prefer more educational programmes than drama-filled reality shows, Moonshiners is the one for you. The US election teaches you to choose the best leader, but this series gives an insight into liquor.

This show fills the gap left behind by Deadliest Catch, as the Moonshiners cast drive the infamous Thunder Road to investigate the murder of Lightning Lloyd Seay on the November 5 episode.

The Real Housewives of New York

The Real Housewives of New York is similar to RHOSLC, but of course, the glam stars live in the Big Apple. Erin throws a Cinco de Mayo party to celebrate her mezcal line on the November 5 episode.

Brynn struggles to make amends with Ubah and Sai, Racquel reveals why she’s kept her engagement private; at dinner, and Jessel drops a bomb on Pavit that could affect their marriage.

The Great British Baking Show

The Great British Baking Show, known in the UK as The Great British Bake Off, can be streamed in the USA. Paul Hollywood, Prue Leith, and the show’s hosts are on hand to critique bakers’ cakes.

Based in the UK, talented bakers go head-to-head (or oven-to-oven) to put together showstopping bakes, pastries, breads and biscuits, all in the hopes of going through to the next round.
