The 90s was a special time. From the decade’s music to the movies to the television, it made an impression on a generation of kids. Those kids are now adults and the sense of nostalgia they feel in regard to their childhood is very special. The show Sister, Sister was a big part of the television landscape that dominated the decade. It starred Tia and Tamera Mowry. Their brother, Tahj, first appeared as Michelle Tanner’s best friend in Full House. The Olsen twins’ fame would also lead to Tia and Tamera’s big break in the sitcom world. This led to the sisters making films and becoming 90s icons in their own right.
As adults, the sisters have found various ways to remain active and in the spotlight. Tia married fellow actor Corey Hardrict, with whom they had two children, son Cree, 13, and daughter Cairo, 6. However, the two would split in 2022 after 14 years of marriage. The aftermath of the divorce would be chronicled in the reality television series Tia Mowry: My Next Act. However, it wouldn’t be Tia’s divorce that would draw eyes to the show, but rather, some surprising comments she made about the status of her and Tamera’s relationship.
Tia Mowry has been finding new ways to navigate life in the wake of her divorce from ex-husband Corey Hardrict. One of those ways is a new reality series on WEtv, Tia Mowry: My Next Act.
Following the news of Tia’s reality show, Tamera reacted to the series during an interview with Entertainment Tonight. According to Tamera, she “found out with the rest of the world” about her sister’s show.
“Tia is living her life right now, and Tia is doing Tia,” she said.
Tamera scoffed and rolled her eyes when the reporter brought up the upcoming reality series, saying, “Uh, I know. I didn’t know until—I found out with the rest of the world!”
When Tia was asked if Tamera would be joining the series, she said, “Uh, she didn’t ask me. So I take that as, no! No, she’s like, ‘This is my story,’ and you know, I can only respect that.”
Despite not being involved in this particular series, Tamera is no stranger to the world of reality television. She previously starred with her sister in The Style Network’s reality series, Tia & Tamera. The show ran for three seasons in the early 2010s.
While speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Tamera was asked if she and husband Adam Housley had been setting Tia up on dates. However, Tamera said that also wasn’t happening.
“I feel like she doesn’t want any of our input right now … and I can only respect that. So I think she is doing her,” she said, “I’m just respecting that.”
Tia Made Claims About Her Relationship With Her Sister In The New Reality Show
According to the show’s description, the series will give viewers “unlimited access to behind-the-scenes goings-on” of Tia’s “multifaceted life.”
“Tia was always part of a duo, first as a twin sister, then as a wife…now she’s on her own for the first time in her life,” the description continues. “The struggle is real as Tia takes on dating again while juggling her acting career, businesses and motherhood. Tia navigates her new normal, looks for love and finds her happiness along the way with her village of larger-than-life friends and family!”
In a preview clip from the series, Tia Mowry discusses her challenges in navigating this new chapter in her life. She also laments not having her sister Tamera there as support.
“I came into this world with a twin and right after that, I went into a 22-year relationship, so I have never been alone in my life. It has been quite a journey,” Tia shared. “Being alone has been the most challenging part of my divorce.”
She added, “It’s times like this when I feel and wish that my sister and I were still close and I could pick up the phone and call her. But that’s just not where we are right now.”
Following the release of the clip, Tia shared a throwback clip of her and Tamera on Instagram. In the video, Tamera drinks her sister’s breast milk while the two talk. “Who remembers that time on Tia & Tamera when I got my sis to try my breast milk after Cree was born?! Yes, that actually happened!” Tia wrote in the caption. “With my new show Tia Mowry: My Next Act coming out on October 4th, I had to bring back this iconic moment. Get ready for more laughs, realness, and all the new chapters ahead!”
In July, Tia told People that she wouldn’t shy away from her divorce when filming her reality show. “I’m all about being authentic. And I’ve showcased some of my feelings and my emotions on social media, whether that was Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, but there’s nothing like a reality show,” she told the outlet.
“[The show will] basically dive in and show the world who I am as a person. And I really wanted to do this to share my story,” she continued. “I feel like a lot of people were creating narratives without knowing a story and understanding me and understanding my feelings. And this is my opportunity to use that platform to share my truth.”
However, most people were interested in the state of her relationship with Tamera following the release of the preview. A source soon clarified to People that the reason for the distance between the sisters was physical proximity, not bad blood.
“The sisters are still close but the quote being referenced was about the lack of proximity in their physical location,” the source claimed. “Tamera lives in Napa and Tia lives in Los Angeles.”
Tia Clarified What She Meant When Discussing Her Relationship With Tamera
Tia herself would later echo those sentiments when setting the record straight regarding her relationship with Tamera. The actress spoke exclusively to Us Weekly about the preview clip that made headlines.
“You could hear it from me, and this is basically what I was insinuating: I feel like as we grow up, we all start our own families and their children need to lean on them. We begin to take on new roles and responsibilities within our lives,” she told the outlet. “That is what that was all about.”
Tia has a brother, Tahj Mowry, and her father, Timothy Mowry, who both live in Los Angeles. And while Tamera lives in Napa with her husband, their other brother, Tavior Mowry, lives in Tennessee.
“In these transitions in life, sometimes you just want a hug and you just want someone to be as accessible as they used to be, and that is not the case,” Tia said. “It’s called life.”
“I love my sister very much. She loves me very much,” she added. “We have a closeness and a beautiful connection. But that’s what that was all about. It’s just how life unfolds, and it happens with many families.”
When asked how Tamera reacted to her comments getting a lot of attention, Tia said it was “not surprising.”
“When you’ve been in this industry for over 30 years, things are always taken out of context and it is what it is,” she explained. “The only thing that I can do is control my behaviors and be the best person that I could possibly be, and that’s what both of us are. We are incredible, inspiring examples, and we have been that all our lives. So, why change that now?”
Tia said that she was looking forward to letting viewers watch her experience “the unknown” in this latest chapter of her life. “There’s beauty in solitude. There’s beauty in change. There’s beauty in understanding oneself—understanding your traumas, understanding your triggers. What role do I play in these transitions? What role have I played in my pain and suffering?” she said. “That has been something that has been in the forefront of my healing and my journey.”
However, some aren’t buying Tia’s version of how everything unfolded. Many believe Tia wasn’t taken out of context as she now claims. Perez Hilton said he believes Tia was either purposefully lying to gain viewership or is now backpedaling after letting the truth slip out.
“I’m so annoyed with Tia. The only reason why she’s backpedaling and LYING now is because she got backlash. If the backlash was against Tamera she wouldn’t have said we ‘took her out of context,’”

Only time will tell if the new show shares more about the truth behind the sisters’ relationship.
