Survivor Legend Parvati Shallow Explains Why She Failed At Playing The Traitors

Since Jeff Probst hosted the first episode of Survivor, loads of seasons of varying quality have aired. While reality show fans who are still figuring which Survivor season to watch first don’t realize it, that longevity has allowed hundreds of people to play Survivor over the years.

While some Survivorplayers have been medically evacuated, others have lasted long enough to make an impact on the show’s history. However, there are only a handful of Survivor players who are considered to be among the best ever, and Parvati Shallow is one of them. As a result, many fans were interested in Parvati’s explanation for why she failed when she played The Traitors.

Parvati Shallow Says Her Survivor Skills Didn’t Translate To The Traitors

In 2010, fans got the first chance to vote on who would be in the inaugural class of the Survivor Hall of Fame. Ultimately, five people made the cut, including “Boston” Rob Mariano, Russell Hantz, Richard Hatch, and Sandra Diaz-Twine.

To the surprise of virtually no Survivor fans, Parvati Shallow was also inducted as a part of the Survivor Hall of Fame’s first class. That wasn’t surprising at all, considering that Parvati is one of only a few Survivor players who are widely considered to be among the best ever.

Since she is regarded as a strategic mastermind, fans were overjoyed when it was announced that Parvati was going to compete during The Traitors’ second season. To the disappointment of virtually everyone, Parvati wound up having very little success during her season of The Traitors.

Considering that Parvati basically flopped during The Traitors, that left fans with an obvious question. Why?

Fortunately for anyone who wants to know what went wrong for Parvati, she gave her perspective of why her Survivor skills didn’t translate to The Traitors.

On April 27, 2024, the Instagram account @allwinnerssurvvior uploaded a clip from a Parvati Shallow interview.

Parvati Shallow has her own Instagram account under the username @pshallow. As of September 2024, Parvati has more than 224,000 followers on her Instagram account where she posts about her life and passions.

During the clip, Parvati started by revealing how similar she felt that The Traitors was to Survivor. According to Parvati, she felt the two games weren’t really that similar. “It’s very different.”

From there, Parvati explained that because of the shows being different, she didn’t get the chance to use the skills she learned from Survivor.

In February 2024, Cirie Fields told

The Daily Mail

that she used her strategy from
Survivor
to win the first season of
The Traitors
. “We were assigned seats, and so when Rachel and I sat down, guess who was sitting across from us? Michael and Andie. From that point, I used my
Survivor
game strategy.” While that is interesting, it should be noted that Cirie and Parvati’s
Survivor
strategies were very different. That may explain why Cirie could use her
Survivor
skills and Parvati couldn’t.

During the clip, Parvati explained what her main skill was that led to her Survivor success.

“I think it’s more about forming alliances and strategizing and then kind of working my way through the game that way with the bonds that I’ve built.”

Unfortunately for Parvati, the faithful players believed she was one of the traitors early on during the season. That meant that she never really got the chance to use those skills.

During the same clip, Parvati explained that when she played The Traitors, she was faced with a completely different pair of challenges.

players of all time. A June 2024

article states that
Survivor
players Carolyn Wiger, Jeremy Collins, “Boston” Rob Mariano, and Tony Vlachos will be playing during
The Traitors’
season three.

Instead of strategizing, Parvati had to lie constantly and cope with facing accusations all the time.

“But with Traitors, being a traitor, [I had] to lie and [had] to be accused constantly and keep a straight face.”

In the Instagram clip, Parvati explained that she didn’t have to lie as much during Survivor as some fans think.

During the same clip that was uploaded on Instagram, Parvati stated that playing
The Traitors
was also hard for her because the faithful players were so good. “And all the other contestants there, they were, like, bringing their A game.”

Since she didn’t have to do it that much during Survivor, Parvati explained that she isn’t as good as lying as many people think.

In
Survivor
, I can selectively lie, and lying isn’t really my number one skill set.

As a result, Parvati explained during the clip that she found herself having to become better at lying as she played The Traitors. “[Lying] was really hard for me and required this other level of skill that I had to develop kind of, in the moment. And, yeah, it was tricky for sure.”

Parvati Shallow Revealed The Moment The Ruined Her Game During The Traitors

In February 2024, Parvati Shallow was interviewed by Rob Cesternino and Pooya Zand Vakili when she appeared on Rob Has A Podcast. During that conversation, which fans can watch on YouTube, Parvati discussed what went wrong for her during The Traitors.

During The Traitors’ second season, Peter Weber set Parvati Shallow and Dan Gheesling up by feeding them false information. Based on that false information, Dan insisted on the traitors taking out Carsten “Bergie” Bergersen. After trying to convince Dan that was a bad idea, Parvati ultimately went along with Dan’s plan.

Pretty much all The Traitors fans have agreed that trying to take Bergie out ruined Parvati and Dan’s games. However, that doesn’t mean that the two of them would inherently agree with that assessment.

During her appearance on Rob Has A Podcast, Parvati was asked how differently things would have played out if she had been able to change Dan’s mind. In response, Parvati stated her belief that the game would have gone in a very different direction if Dan listened to her.

Radically different. I think, for all of us. Because Dan really going for Bergie was the traitors’ downfall.

During the same podcast interview, Parvati stated that she would play The Traitors again. If that happens, it would be interesting to see how differently her game may play out.
