Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) Mr. Khalil Halilu, says the agency under his watch is committed to driving the country’s industralisation agenda.
The NASENI DG, who made the statement when he unveiled 35 products to mark his first year in office Thursday in Abuja, said the agency is working to enhance Nigeria’s manufacturing capabilities.
“My stewardship has been characterised by a forward-thinking approach, emphasising the importance of homegrown technological solutions and the critical role of science and engineering in national development, ’’ NASENI EVC said.
According to him, our vision is not just to build a 21st century institution driven by collaboration, creation and commercialisation, but to create high quality products and technologies.
“It is also developing commercially viable pipelines for these products to reach the market.’’
Highlighting his feat in first one year, NASENI boss said he introduced the new vision for NASENI’s brand identity.
He added that the agency was repositioned with the 3Cs of Creation, Collaboration and Commercialisation.
According to him, NASENI is advancing Nigeria’s industralisation efforts, with increased valued investment upward to $3.25 billion.
Halilu said that so far, rolled out an array of 35 commercially viable products.
“Each of these products is a technological advancement and a testament to our commitment to sustainable industrial practice and reducing our dependence on imports. This in turn – fuels economic growth.
“Since my appointment to spearhead Nigeria’s Industrialization reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, we’ve been on an accelerated path to drive the 8-strategic pillars that anchor his vision for Nigeria. Central to this effort is our ‘Accelerated Technology Transfer & Adaptation Strategy, an initiative to fast-track our technological advancement,” Halilu stated.
By focusing on innovation and homegrown solutions, the NASENI helmsman said that, the products contribute to job creation drive and the growth of Nigeria’s economy.
“Our goal is to support the diversification of the Nigerian economy and strengthen our position in the global technology and manufacturing landscape.”
Reiterating, he said that when he came on board he promised to commercialize technologies by the Agency within three years but today, he has left it for Nigerians to attest his promises.
