Regardless of whether she played a heel or face, the 37-year-old was adored by the fans, and they were heartbroken when she stepped away from the ring in 2015. Just like many fans, several WWE superstars like Bayley and Liv Morgan also want her to step back into the squared circle.
A fan uploaded a ‘then and now’ picture of Lee with her iconic Diva’s championship, nearly ten years apart. The fan was blown away by how well the Geek Goddess had aged and asked for her secret. She said that she had begun embracing her wrinkles and gray hair. She believed that aging was a privilege, and things like therapy and self-love would definitely make one glow. Bayley saw this tweet and decided to make a tongue-in-cheek comment.
The former WWE Women’s Champion jokingly said that wrestling rings were also great for wrinkles. Thus, implying that she should come back to WWE. NXT superstar Cora Jade also joined in on the fun.
Not giving them any concrete answer, the Crazy Chick told them that she adored them and the peer pressure that they were putting on her to return. The Role Model replied back, saying that they cared for her and were simply looking out for her health and well being.
AJ Lee stepped away from professional wrestling in 2015, when she was only 26 years old. Her retirement was allegedly due to back issues, as she also had three herniated discs in her spine. Since then, the former WWE superstar has gone on to become a bestselling author and is doing well for herself in the entertainment industry as a screenwriter.
Roxanne Perez says that she will not retire without facing AJ Lee
Roxanne Perez shares a very close relationship with CM Punk and AJ Lee. The NXT Women’s Champion even calls herself their daughter. The three of them have a lot of fun backstage, but the rising superstar has also received a lot of great wrestling advice from the couple. Thus, it is no secret that she also wants the 37-year-old to step back into the squared circle.
Speaking on Ring The Belle, Roxanne Perez expressed her hope for Lee returning to the ring and getting to work with her in the near future. Despite only being 22 years old and having her entire career ahead of her, she stated that she would not retire until she got to face the former Diva’s Champion in the ring.
It’s going, we’re trying you know. Hopefully, one day, she’ll come back and maybe we can all do something together. That would be, that would be like my dream. I can’t retire until I have a match against AJ Lee. So you know, I can’t be 80 years old wrestling either, so.

Perez has also revealed in the past that both she and Punk are trying to get Lee to get back into the ring. The NXT Women’s Champion even complained to her ‘alleged’ mother about the Best in the World scolding her for being a scared heel.
