Video: Cake themed like Anthony Joshua smashed by rival Daniel Dubois to celebrate 27th birthday

The build-up to boxing matches has often been interesting, especially if it is a matchup as big as Daniel Dubois vs. Anthony Joshua. A video from Queensberry Promotions recently captured the IBF champion including his former world champion opponent in his birthday celebration. Here is what happened:

Daniel Dubois uniquely celebrated his 27th birthday— by punching a cake decorated with Anthony Joshua‘s face. This lighthearted stunt occurred ahead of their highly anticipated fight scheduled for later this month. The cake punch was a symbolic gesture. It shows that the IBF champion is ready and confident for their showdown this September.

This act added to the build-up ahead of the upcoming fight. Both fighters have a lot on the line. The 27-year-old Dubois is looking to make a strong statement in the ring. Meanwhile, former world champion Anthony Joshua looks to consolidate on his 4-fight win streak.

Joshua lost his heavyweight title to Oleksandr Usyk in 2021 by a unanimous decision. Usyk’s win allowed him to claim the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO belts. As of 2024, Joshua has bounced back with a winning streak. Promoter Eddie Hearn has some big fights lined up for the former champion so it will be interesting to see what happens next.

A win against Dubois could set up an all-British affair against Tyson Fury. The two have teased a match-up for years but the fight has fallen through for one reason or the other. Now, with both fighters at the tail-end of their career, the coming year is all the more crucial. A fight on British soil with these 2 behemoths would break all British records in recent times.

Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois set to break British boxing attendance record

The highly anticipated heavyweight clash between Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois is scheduled for later this month at the Wembley Stadium. This bout is expected to break the British boxing attendance record. The current record of 94,000 was set during Tyson Fury‘s fight against Dillian Whyte in 2022.

But with a recently approved capacity increase, this fight could host up to 96,000 fans. However, this is not the first time Joshua would potentially set records at the Wembley Stadium. The Fury vs. Whyte fight had surpassed the previous record of 90,000 set by Anthony Joshua’s bout against Wladimir Klitschko in 2017.

This is a significant fight for the two-time world champion. Dubois was elevated to full champion status earlier this year. If Joshua wins this fight, he aims to challenge the winner of the Fury vs. Usyk rematch, which is scheduled for later this year in December.
