Sammy Giancola has opened up about her difficult journey with IVF to support fans of the show who might be going through a similar process.
Fans who wanted more of the OG Jersey Shore have been thrilled to catch up with the cast on the rebooted Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. The original housemates relive their glory days touring the US and staying in swanky locations throughout the seven seasons. Sammi Giancola first appeared on our shores at the age of 22, as one of the original eight housemates. After an eleven year hiatus she is back on screens in the reboot sharing her difficult and intensely personal journey with IVF.
‘At 36 I thought truthfully I would be like married’
Giancola expressed she wanted to represent the IVF community for others that might be going through the same difficult journey.
Featuring on Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea podcast the reality star shared: “I was leaning on other platforms like Instagram and TikTok and seeing what other people were going through.”
“And by watching and learning from them, I was starting to realize, ‘Maybe I should talk about this… because maybe somebody else can relate to me or maybe I can help somebody else.’”
However, the MTV star had concerns about sharing her journey with the world. “Some people don’t believe in IVF, so I was nervous to tell anybody,” Giancola said.
“It’s so personal,” she added. “I feel like I’m still nervous to watch it and I’m still nervous to see what people say. It’s a very vulnerable stage in my life.”
The Jersey Shore OG previously admitted to the New York Post that she didn’t feel she would be “strong enough” to “tell people that it didn’t work.” She voiced: “You’re gonna see how everything plays out [on the show] but I really kept it private for a really long time.”
As Sammi started being more open with her cast mates about the experience she felt it was “nice” to get their “support.”
In the show the 37-year-old had previously opened up about how it “sucks to be a woman” at the age she now is.
Discussing her decision to freeze her eggs as she began to date her now fiancé Justin May, she said: “At 36 I thought truthfully I would be like married, with kids, living in some house somewhere, and it’s just not where I’m at right now in my life.”
‘I have tears right now rewatching this again’
Fans are proud of the sweetheart-star for sharing her journey with the audience. On X Sammi confessed that she started to bawl when watching back the latest season: “I have tears right now rewatching this all again.”
Fans jumped to her support: “I’m sure u do u make me cry, tough subject and again thanks for sharing with us. That’s a big deal.”
Many women have found relatability in this difficult journey: “I appreciate and applaud you to unlimited lengths. Thank you for sharing your journey.”
Other fans want to let the star know that she will be the mom she’s dreamed of being in the future.
“Praying for you Sam try not to stress too much it will happen . You’re gonna be a fabulous mom.” Commented one X user.
While another reminded Sammi: “Aww it WILL happen for you.”
Giancola appreciates the support from her friends, cast mates, families and fans while she is “still on” this “difficult journey.” She mentioned on the podcast: “But it’s nice to hear other people’s stories and… just having the support there is really really nice.”
