TV realtor details 'dangerous' side of hit show's huge success

Some “open houses” are a thing of the past for members of the Selling Sunset cast these days. In an interview this fall, Mary Bonnet lifts the lid on a huge change she’s experienced in her career since the Netflix show took off.

Selling Sunset is ranking in Netflix‘s Top 10 this September following the release of its eighth season. Chrishell Stause, Amanza Smith, Mary Bonnet, and the rest of the high-flying realtors returned for a batch of dramatic episodes.

Mary Bonnet says it’s ‘kind of dangerous to do open houses’

Selling Sunset’s success speaks for itself – the show’s been renewed multiple times and its eighth season came out on September 6.

While it’s obviously a great thing for the Netflix show’s cast – their visibility has increased and the Oppenheim Group is recognized worldwide.

However, long-time cast member Mary Bonnet shares some downsides to fame.

Mary explains that she “doesn’t want drama in her life” but signed up to the show “because she loves real estate,” in an interview with PIX11 News this fall.

She was up for “increasing her business” by appearing on the Netflix series and she explains “it’s helped a lot.”

But, the realtor adds: “It’s also hurt a little bit because we can’t do open houses anymore just because of how popular the show is, it’s kind of dangerous.”

Realtor has ‘clients from all over the world’

Despite open houses now seemingly off the cards for the most part for the Selling Sunset cast, Mary states how well her business is doing these days.

She says she now has clients the world over: “It’s increased a lot… I have clients in Australia, Sweden, and London, so when they’re up, I’m up.”

Mary is asked if her life has changed so much that she “needs a security guard with her now.”

She says: “For open houses, yes. For open houses I would either take my husband because no one wants to mess with Romain, otherwise, yeah, we would probably use a security guard because you’re telling somebody when and where you’re going to be alone… not really smart for a woman.”
