Selling Sunset Newbie Alanna Gold Is The Only Very Demure, Very Mindful Agent In Season 8

Selling Sunset just dropped its drama-packed season 8 on Netflix . There’s already been a lot of talk about Chelsea Lazkani’s divorce, as well as her inappropriate micro skirt at a broker’s open house (see photo below). Professional conduct and dress codes have been a hot topic this season. And while the realtors continued to show up with their usual excessive glam and over-the-top outfits, the show’s newbie, Alanna Gold, ironically stood out with her proper work outfits.

In the words of TikTok star, Jools Lebron, Alanna is truly “very demure, very mindful” at work — and not just in terms of clothing. Fans praised the new real estate agent for staying focused on her job. As the series villain, Nicole Young was spreading rumors about Emma Hernan; and as Chelsea and Bre were feuding, Alanna wowed everyone after showing she could compete with the top producers in The Oppenheim Group.

When Bre’s friend and Selling Sunset newcomer, Amanda Lynn asked if Alanna dressed “cute”, Bre called her new co-worker “boring.” But fans beg to differ. “I feel like [Alanna] might be the most appropriately dressed because she genuinely wants to work in real estate,” one wrote on X (formerly Twitter). Viewers even slammed Bre over her comments on Alanna’s style.

“Bre and her friend being weird about [Alanna] because why are you as an adult asking if the new girl dresses cute to work? Are you in high school?” tweeted a fan.

As a former model, Alanna’s outfits are actually giving office siren — but not in a costume-y way like Chelsea’s faux latex tie and specs. The new reality TV star definitely schooled her co-stars on wearing tailored suits correctly (with pants). Don’t get her wrong, she knows how to switch it up to sexy outfits; but in the right settings, like that time they went to her Western film set-turned-“functioning” town, Pioneertown.

Speaking of her town, which she co-owns with her husband, Alanna gets plus points for “saving” the history of this “ghost town”. “It needed a lot of updates and things like that, and we really wanted to bring it back to life,” she said of the property that was made in the 1940s. “So it was just this opportunity to really make it vibrant again.”

Alanna Gold is married to Adam Gold, a businessman who’s currently the managing director of the Living Room Private Membership Club.

We can’t really get rid of the drama on Selling Sunset. It’s what makes it good reality TV. But Alanna staying away from issues that don’t concern her is appreciated by fans. “I like this Alana girl. Has sense. Work ethic,” tweeted a viewer. “…People have tried to get her in the mix with messy drama and she has handled it with class without alienating herself. All while doing her job and actually impressing Brett.”

Indeed, Alanna vowed never to mess with drama upon joining
Selling Sunset
.

She was also aware the show could change her life, for better or for worse. “There was a little bit of hesitation there of course, and just thinking about how it will change my life. It was this big shift and I really had to evaluate,” she said. Alanna ended up joining with an “open mind”, seeing the project as a big opportunity. As for navigating the O Group drama, she said:

“I just kind of made a promise to myself to stay true to who I am and really stick up for the things that I believe in, but also not get involved with things that don’t involve me.”

Still, some viewers think Alanna might be a sneaky gossip… “This [Alanna] babe, is she here just to gossip? I dislike a chatty patty,” someone wrote on X. Others also fear that Selling Sunset might break her. “[Alana] seems like a kind and rational woman. i hope the show doesn’t break her 🥲,” one said, with another suspecting that “iff she’s here next season she too will start dressing like she’s going to the VMA awards.”

Alanna Gold started studying to get her real estate license during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Right away, Brett tested Alanna’s skills by putting her on a construction project. At first, the O Group co-founder wasn’t sure she could deliver as it’s a high-pressure task for any newcomer. But Alanna showed Brett she could solve the property’s privacy problem as she initially promised. Before that, she also asked to pitch herself to a major client — for a $30 million listing — opposite the agency’s top producers, Chelsea and Mary Fitzgerald.

During a confessional interview, Emma said of Alanna’s gutsy move: “Chelsea and Mary are some heavyweights in the real estate business. Alanna is a little bit of a lightweight. She’s gotta earn her keep.”

While Chelsea and Mary co-landed the listing, Alanna still put herself out there. She was also happy for the two. She just manifested she’ll “get the next one.” And honestly, fans believe she will. After all, on why Mary deserved that listing over Chelsea, the former said: “I am the right choice. I don’t focus all my efforts and energy on wardrobe.” That sounds a lot like Alanna who forayed into a couple of fields before real estate:

  • Veterinary Medicine: Alanna was studying to be a vet but quit as she’s allergic to animals.
  • Modeling: She was discovered while studying to be a vet; she took the opportunity after realizing being a vet wasn’t a “good path” for her.
