The Young People’s Party (YPP) chairmanship aspirant in Andoni local government area of Rivers state, Nte Rawlings Ete, weekend, pledged to revive tourism to boost economic potential of the state if elected in the October 5, local government election.
He stated this shortly after he was screened by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RESIEC) to contest next month’s local government election at the commission headquarters in Port Harcourt.
He said: “Rivers state has the most vibrant tourism potentials, especially in Andoni local government area. In Nigeria, we have three local government areas that have direct access to the Atlantic ocean, Akwa lbom state has tapped theirs, Lagos has tapped theirs and Andoni in Rivers hasn’t tapped theirs.
“Andoni is the place where within one hour thirty minutes you are at the bank of Atlantic Ocean. And we have elephants and some of you haven’t sighted elephants at all. We have the best wild life you can think of in Nigeria, yet we do not tap those resources. So, l will ensure that one of my greatest interest would be to resuscitate the tourism industry in Rivers state,” the aspirant said.
