There is a critical situation currently facing Maiduguri residents as a result of the floods that ravaged the Borno state capital, leaving thousands of people homeless and hopeless. This sad incident requires well meaning individuals in Nigeria to come to the rescue of the victims.
The people of Maiduguri are in a dire situation that requires assistance and support from well meaning individuals to bring hope and relief to the displaced persons. Wealthy individuals should urgently use their resources to save human lives for them to earn the benefit in the hereafter.
Wealthy Nigerians like Aliko Dangote, Abdusamad Rabiu, Mohammed Indimi, AA Rano, Mike Adenuga, Femi Otedola, among others, should provide support to the people of Maiduguri. This will go a long way in mitigating the hardship faced by thousands of residents in Maiduguri.
However, these individuals should note at this moment that the victims of the flood in Maiduguri are deeply in need of support in the areas of food, shelter, clothing and renovation of their house.
Doubtless, the aforementioned materials will bring hope to those affected and currently residing at Internally Displaced Persons (IDPS) camps.
Though the federal government and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) have taken some necessary measures to reduce the hardship but it requires a collective responsibility to address the ongoing sad situation, hence it is paramount and crucial for wealthy individuals to step in for the betterment of their brothers and sisters.
An African proverb says “a tree cannot make a forest”. This means that a forest is made up of many trees put together. In the same vein, we too can achieve great things when we work together towards a common goal.
