Lil Tay Made Major Headlines In 2023

As The Shade Room previously reported, Lil Tay made headlines in August 2023. At the time, a message was shared on her social media alleging she and her brother, Jason Tian, had passed away.

Shortly after the message was shared, a separate statement was shared via Tay’s Instagram account, alleging it had been “compromised.” Additionally, it asserted that Tay and her brother were alive.

Then, in September 2023, a woman, believed to be Lil Tay, was spotted at Los Angeles International Airport, per The Shade Room. At the time, Daily Mail reported that the woman was spotted with Jason and Tay’s mother, Angela Tian.

Then, in October of that year, Tay opened up about the death hoax while speaking on Instagram Live, per The Shade Room. The rapper explained that the scheme was allegedly hatched by her father, Chris Hope.

“He was trying to sabotage me,” she alleged. “Meanwhile, he was working with this other con artist that was claiming to be my manager and they had a crypto coin together. Their plan was to fake my death and then promote the crypto coin — which, by the way, the ‘manager’ admitted to. He said he’d been working on the crypto coin for months. These people are frauds.”

Furthermore, at the time, Tay also detailed her father’s alleged abuse toward her and her mother.
