Unknown gunmen, Tuesday evening, at about 8.30pm, stormed Umuelemai, Isiala Mbano local government area headquarters of Imo state, shooting sporadically and killing two security guards on duty in the process.
Blueprint correspondent also gathered that the hoodlums went ahead and set arts of the main building and several parked vehicles outside the council premises ablaze before leaving.
Although the reason for their action was not known as at the time of filing this report, an eyewitness said it might not be unconnected to the ongoing LG primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC ) in the state characterised by consensus rather than popular candidacy.
Meanwhile, the Imo Police Command is yet to react to the incident.
