Despite the New York Mets securing an 11-3 win over the Philadelphia Phillies in Friday’s game, the team could not celebrate their victory. The team’s star player and MVP candidate Francisco Lindor exited the game with lower back soreness.
The incident took place during the sixth inning as Lindor tried to awkwardly step onto second base after his base hit to give the Mets a 7-0 lead. In an unfortunate rundown, he got caught between second and third as he slipped and got tagged out.
As the Mets aim for playoff games, they can’t absolutely lose Francisco Lindor to the IL. Thankfully, the team manager Carlos Mendoza, and even the shortstop are taking the situation positively.

Lindor is hopeful to be back for Saturday’s game. Although if he feels any tightness, he’ll probably not play and rest for the final regular season games. Currently, he’s day-to-day with lower back tightness.
Brandon Nimmo on Francisco Lindor’s injury
New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo talked about Francisco Lindor’s injury during the post-game interview. The veteran spoke about how it’s difficult to get Lindor out of a game unless the extent of the injury is serious.
Especially with the Mets looking forward to the playoffs, they wouldn’t want to push Lindor during crucial time. Nimmo even said that they wouldn’t even be where they are now without Lindor.
It takes a lot to get Francisco out of a game. We’re definitely concerned for him. Lindor has been the heartbeat of the Mets this season. He has played almost all the games, participating in 147 this season. If he participates in all 162 games of the season, he’ll be joining Felix Millan as the only Mets to do so since 1975.
