Experts harp on strong science, tech education

International Conference on Mathematics, Science, and Technology Education tagged “COMSTEDA 21 ” was held at the headquarters of the Nigerian Teachers Institute (NTI) Kaduna

According to the organizers, the conference was aimed to promote Mathematics Science, and Technology education with emphasis on exposing young people to importance of acquiring knowledge especially skills acquisitions

Participants at the conference spoke extensively on the need to establish more vocational centres and inculcate skills knowledge in young people in Nigeria and Africa

In their separate speeches, participants also highlighted on the need to equip young people with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in the 21st century

In his key note address, the president of SMASE-Africa, Dr. Benson Banda emphasized the importance of collaboration between governments, educational institutions, and the private sector to create a conducive environment for STEM learning.

Dr. Banda hared his insights on the challenges and opportunities facing STEM education in Africa.

He noted that the presence of who is who on education sector at the conference underscored the significance of the conference and the commitment of the government and educational institutions in promoting STEM education in Nigeria.

He said that the conference marked a significant milestone in the journey towards enhancing STEM education in Nigeria.

Dr. Banda explained that the conference would provide a platform for academia
researchers, and policymakers to exchange ideas, share best practices, and explore innovative approaches to teaching and learning.

The personalities that attended the conference included His Highness, the Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, representative of the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Prof. Muhammed Sani Bello, along with the Commissioner of Education, Kaduna State, and Prof. Musa Garba Maitafsir, the Director and Chief Executive of NTI Kaduna among others
