Transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) on Friday closed northward, appreciating by N140 billion as gain in the shares of MTN Nigeria, Oando Plc, FBNHoldings, Zenith Bank lifted market activities .
The market capitalisation of listed equities increased by 0.25 per cent to N56.456 trillion from N56.316 trillion reported the previous day.
The NGX All Share Index also increased by 244.24 basis points to 98247.99 points from 98003.75 points traded the previous day.
As a result, year-to-date return went up to 31.39 per cent as NGX printed 21 decliners against 35 gainers.
The market which opened at 97456.62 points on Monday gained 791.37 points to close at 98247.99 points on Friday. The market cap also appreciated by N455 billion in the last five days to N56.456 trillion against N56.001 trillion it closed last week.
A review of the trading during the day showed that Fidson health care led gainers table with 10 per cent to close at N15.95 per unit, Meyer Paint followed with a gain of 9.98 per cent to close at N7.05 per unit, Caverton Business Solutions added 9.82 per cent to close at N3.69 per share, PZ added 9.81 per cent to close at N17.35 per share, Academy press up by 9.69 per cent to close at N3.17 per share.
On the contrary, FBNHoldings topped losers chart dropping by 9.88 per cent to close at N27.50 per unit, Northern Nigeria Flour Mills trailed with a loss of 9.96 per cent to close at N35.25 per unit, NIDF fell by 9.93 per cent to close at N101.60 per share, Flour Mills Nigeria Plc down by 9.91 per cent to close at N50.45 per unit, JohnHolt dipped by 9.74 per cent to close at N2.78 per share.
FBNHoldings led market activities with 151.903 million shares valued at N4.369 billion, Japaul Gold followed with account of 150.076 million shares cost N392.960 million, Fidelity Bank traded 27.230 million shares cost N359.556 million, UACN down by 26.633 million shares worth N537.916 million , AIICO Plc sold a total of 14.684 million shares cost N17.226 million.
