Hoodlums on Friday set ablaze Pinnacle Oil Filling Station located on Agbani Road, Enugu.
The daredevils were said to have arrived at the filling station around 10 am and began to carry out their deadly attack.
Three vehicles, two cars and one bus were completely burnt while a forth one, a Toyota Highlander, was badly damaged.
However, a source told Blueprint that the cause of the inferno was a car crash.
“One vehicle hit another one in its front and it sparked fire and began to spread,” the source disclosed.
An artisan who was working close to the attacked station said he could not say exactly what happened because they held a gun to his face and asked him to lie down.
“I was in my workshop and before I knew what was happening, one of them held a gun to my face and told me to lie face down. As I was lying down, I could not know exactly what was going on. It was about twenty minutes later that I opened my eyes and saw that they were gone. Each time I tried to raise my head he would shout, ‘lie down,” he said.
Another source who would not want to be mentioned said the hoodlums had the doors of their Toyota Camry open and held people to ransom while some went out to carry out their nefarious activity.
“As we were passing by, we saw where they parked their Toyota Camry and the doors were open. We had to turn to take another road,” a Keke operator said.
When our correspondent visited the scene, security operatives were everywhere and the Commissioner of Police, Uzeugbu, was sighted at the premises.
Fire engines that saved the station from being completely destroyed were scattered in the vicinity.
