The Duggar family has been back on everyone’s radar recently after Jana Duggar’s dream wedding in Arkansas earlier this month. Friends and family surrounded her as she said ‘I do’ to Steven Wissmann, but her wedding party surprisingly did not include her sister, Jill Dillard. Jana’s decision to seemingly snub her sister did not go unnoticed; however, the attention is shifting because another Duggar is celebrating a relationship milestone: Jason Duggar proposed to his girlfriend, Maddie.
Maddie has already taken the Duggar last name and created an Instagram account under Maddie Duggar. It only has one post showing gorgeous pictures from the engagement, which happened on Aug. 24. She shared her thoughts about the day in the caption, writing, “On 8/24, Jase asked me to marry him, and I could not be more excited!! Thank you @kaylajohnsonphoto_ for capturing this special moment so beautifully.”
Jason Duggar And His Girlfriend Get Engaged
Maddie and Jason Duggar looked so happy and in love in their engagement pictures, and it is clear that Jason made an effort. He got down on one knee on the beach, with white candles and flowers on the ground. To complete the proposal was a giant heart-shaped rose sign with the words, ‘Will you marry me?’
Jason also shared the pictures on his Instagram account, and the post has been filled with comments from excited fans. Reactions included, “Congratulations! Only the Very Best Wishes!!!,” “That’s no side hug,” “Nope, no side hugs for the boys,” and “When is the wedding? I love Duggar weddings! I have watched them grow up, and now there is another wonderful couple to see have their happily ever after!”
Jason also commented on the post, writing, “She said yes!!” followed by a ring and heart emoji. Fans have liked his comment hundreds of times. But have the couple already gotten married in secret? Did they head straight to the courthouse following the engagement? Some fans are suspicious about Maddie and Jason’s relationship status because she already uses the Duggar name on social media.
“Why has she already changed her last name?!? Shouldn’t that be done on the wedding day?,” an Instagram user asked. “Since your last name says Duggar, are you already married??” another shared.
Why Was Jason Duggar’s Courtship So Short?
The couple is celebrating their engagement and fans are praising them for their love, but we must note that their courtship was surprisingly short.
Jason shared his courtship on social media three months ago (although it is possible the pair were together long before this). The beach appears to have special significance for these two because when Jason shared his first photos of Maddie, they held hands on the beach. He captioned the post with a white heart emoji. At the time, fans expressed their excitement about the coupling. “Did you find yourself a fiancee, well share who she is. I am happy for you,” a fan shared. “Love that you are making your own choices in how you want in your relationship!” another person commented.
Fans also noted that there appeared to be different rules for the Duggar men compared to their female siblings (some of which we have seen play out on reality TV). “Seems the sons didn’t have the enforced rules the daughters had during courtships,” a comment reads.
