Los Angeles Angels place third baseman Anthony Rendon on 10-day IL once again for the 3rd time in the ongoing 2024 season. The player has some serious bad luck with injuries as he has yet to play more than 58 games with the team since signing a 7-year $245 million contract back in 2020.
It is also the 11th time Rendon has been placed on the injured list since signing with the Angels. As for his latest injury, the veteran felt some discomfort in his back after playing with Texas and did not play on Sunday or Monday.
The team wanted to see if he could be back on the lineup during Tuesday’s game, but he was later placed on IL. The back pain later turned out to be a bit serious as he was diagnosed with a strained left oblique muscle.
It started in his back area and it moved into his oblique. We’ll just wait and see what happens. I’m not going sit here and say it’s the end of the year, but he has to go on the IL.Ron Washington as per Dave Campbell of AP News.
Earlier, Anthony Rendon spoke about how injuries have marred his overall performance record, “no matter what I do, everything I try, it doesn’t work.” In the last few seasons, he had issues with his hip, wrist, and hamstring, and these have greatly affected his career as a baseball player.

He has yet to play more than 58 to 60 games in a single season with the Angels. One fan on social media commented, “Bro needs to retire,”, while another penned, “Didn’t even know he came off the IL after the first time.”

Rendon came on the wrong foot of the MLB fan base after he talked about how baseball was not his first priority. Later his frequent visits to the IL didn’t quite help the baseman get in the limelight again. Even the player himself admitted that he can’t get to his 100% form given all the injuries, and surgeries he’s been through.
