Amber Portwood Reacts To Rumors Her Ex Is Engaged Months After Break-Up

It seems Amber Portwood isn’t letting her ex-fiancé Gary Wayt’s recent engagement slide by unnoticed. Just months after their high-profile split, Wayt, 39, has found himself a new lady and popped the question, sending ripples through the Teen Mom fanbase. But while Gary is busy flaunting his new fiancée, Amber, 34, is dealing with her own set of dramatic twists.

Amber was quick to comment on the news, sending a seemingly gracious but pointed message through Us Weekly: “Congratulations.” Clearly, Amber’s got some sass to spare, even in the face of her ex’s whirlwind romance.

According to Teen Mom fan site @teenmomfanz, Gary’s new fiancée remains a mystery, but the engagement came just two months after he and Amber ended their engagement.

The timing might seem suspect to some, especially considering Gary was spotted on dating apps shortly after their breakup. It’s as if he’s been on a fast track to “new romance” while Amber’s left picking up the pieces.

While Gary’s jumping into a new relationship, Amber appears to still be grappling with their split. A source close to the situation told Us Weekly, “She is still reeling from the whirlwind experience. As long as Gary realizes that he will always be Amber’s ex, best of luck.”

Translation? Amber’s not exactly shedding tears over Wayt’s new chapter but definitely has her own thoughts on how quickly he’s moved on.

The source also raised eyebrows by noting how Gary’s engagement seems overly hasty. “The previous engagement [to Amber] is just airing on the show so it seems really, really quick,” they added. Talk about a rapid rebound!

Fans remember Gary’s grand gesture during the August 22 episode of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, where he proposed to Amber in front of her friends and co-stars, Catelynn Lowell and Maci Bookout (though fans knew IRL they’d already been engaged for months – and subsequently broken up – when the episode aired).

With dramatic flair, Gary declared, “Amber Portwood, I love you and you’ve been absolutely amazing to me and I don’t see myself with anyone but you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?”

Without missing a beat, Amber responded, “I love you. Like, I actually really love you. It’s insane.” But, as we now know, that fairy-tale moment didn’t quite pan out as planned.

Their story hit a rough patch in June when reports said their engagement was off following Wayt’s brief disappearance. An insider told Us Weekly, “Amber took off the engagement ring and it’s the best thing. She is sad and she cares about him, but she is willing to see that he is not the right guy for her. She wants to be with someone who accepts her fully.” Ouch!

Amid the chaos, Amber has also been dealing with her own personal drama. Her teenage daughter has expressed a desire to be adopted by her stepmom, a move that Amber is reportedly not thrilled about. Between navigating her split from Gary and managing family dynamics, Amber’s plate is undeniably full.

Despite the challenges, sources close to the reality TV star insist she’s a “strong person” and will bounce back. And while Gary might be celebrating his new engagement, Amber seems to be taking it all in stride with her trademark strength and a touch of sass.
