Alex Bowman breaks silence on “annoying” 2025 HMS exit rumors

The 2024 NASCAR season marked the return of Alex Bowman back to the playoff after the disappointing 2023 season that saw him missed out on the last-16 over his winless streak. Though he bagged a win this year, it hasn’t been a season he envisioned as the triumph came at Chicago Street race while he wasn’t performing on the same level as his teammates.

His fellow HMS driver Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott and William Byron outperformed him a with a sizable margin this year and this has yet again caused the rumors about hie inevitable HMS exit. Recent rumors suggest the team would replace him in the No:48 Chevy and Alex Bowman is annoyed with these claims. In a recent interview he asserted that he won’t be axed from the team.

That rumor has certainly been annoying. Obviously, my contract is through the end of 2026 and all I can tell you is what my bosses have told me and that there’s no plans to change anything.

Alex Bowman told Alan Cavanna.

The veteran driver further pointed out that the contract extension announcement of him is coming soon as his bosses confirmed with him. He will be driving the No:48 car for at least the 2025 Cup season.

Rumors are just rumors. Hopefully, they’ll get their announcements done so my rumors stop. As far as I know, I’m driving the 48 next year and nothing’s changing.

Alex Bowman added.

Alex Bowman has talks with HMS bosses over the rumors

The reports coming out about his exit really frustrated the Chevy driver and he talked with his HMS bosses about it. They have confirmed to his that they don’t have any plans to replace him and the extension announcement would come soon ending all the rumors.

Every conversation I’ve had with my bosses — it’s unfortunate rumors and it’s rumors we’re really not a part of, which makes it difficult. I don’t think there’s any plans or anything on the HMS side and I think the rumors have started on the other side of things. So, hopefully when they get their announcement on what the other side is doing on that rumor, then it’ll kind of go away for me.

Alex Bowman said.

While Bowman isn’t producing the same level of performance as his teammate, he is doing a phenomenal job behind the wheels. His solid 2024 season is enough to land him an extension for one more year, but if he doesn’t step-up in 2025, they should look for a better option.
