Selling Sunset newcomer Alanna Gold issues an official apology to the residents of a California desert town this fall. The Netflix newbie claimed to “own” a town featured in season 8 called Pioneertown. Now, she states how she “doesn’t own” it.
“A town?” asks Selling Sunset‘s Bre Tiesi during season 8. Yes, Alanna Gold said during the show she was the owner of Pioneertown. But, now she sets the record straight. The new Netflix series episodes came with some exciting moments including a girls’ trip to the Cali desert and other heartwrenching scenes as one star’s marriage breaks down.
Alanna Gold doesn’t own the town
September 6 saw the arrival of 11 new Selling Sunset episodes on Netflix.
The world-famous reality TV show appears to have gone down a treat with fans. But, one star received backlash for something she claimed on the show right after season 8’s arrival.
Newcomer to the Oppenheim Group, Alanna Gold was the hostess with the mostess during season 8 as she invited her co-stars to spend time in Pioneertown with her.
However, the Pioneertown fun has gone down like a lead balloon as residents of the town urged her to apologize for her claim that she “owned the town.”
Taking to an Instagram page called the Pioneertown Gazette, the town’s residents described Alanna’s claims as “baseless.”
The social media post continues to add how Alanna’s claims: “…undermine 78 years of internationally celebrated film, arts and cultural history.”
The town is home to over 400 residents and the statement explains how it’s “privately owned by more than 100 independent parties.”
Selling Sunset star apologizes
In an official apology statement shared with People, Alanna clarifies she “doesn’t own Pioneertown.”
She says she’s “deeply sorry” for “causing confusion,” and states: “I certainly do not own Pioneertown.”
The Netflix show newbie continues: “…I never should have said that and I apologize for doing so. I want you to know that I did not mean any harm, I absolutely love Pioneertown and I simply got too excited talking about it…”
Alanna states how she’d “never want to disrespect the town’s history or any of the people who make it such a wonderful place,” adding: “We wanted to become part of the community, so we invested in a home and other properties there… Again, I am so sorry to the people of Pioneertown…”
