Aaron Boone DEFENDS Gleyber Torres after commentator calls him ‘worst second baseman in the league’

New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone and American sports commentator Jomboy recently engaged in a heated social media argument. Jomboy called the Yanks’ second baseman Gleyber Torres the “worst second baseman in the league defensively”, to which Boone strongly denied the claims.

He agreed that Torres indeed made several mistakes in the games, but he did not do so poorly as to call him the worst 2B in the league. Jomboy argued how the 27-year-old is not having a good season defensively and it was pretty evident seeing his records.

However, Boone claimed “it’s been really good” admitting that a couple of mistakes aside, his game was not so bad. Boone further pushed back on the commentator’s claim saying,

I would push back on that. As far as ‘the worst’...he’s made the most errors. He has not been close to the worst.

Taking the help of the statistics, Jomboy commented that Glyeber Torres had made 17 errors and 28 poor plays. “He’s been very poor,” he added. However, as far as “the worst” take comes, it can be a stretch according to Aaron Boone.

The argument ended when the commentator said. “Ok, one of the worst,” to which Boone replied “Asinine”, which means ‘stupid’ or ‘foolish’. Their conversation caught the attention of several online fans who said why would any manager ever bash his own player, and defend Boone.

While others noted how Boone was right to say Torres has played poorly but not enough to be called the worst in the league. The conversation first started with Jazz Chisholm Jr. and his performance which has boosted the team time and again to victory. However, the focus later shifted to Torres, as Boone was not interested in speaking about Chisholm.
