Luckily, Jenn Tran turned her ex, Matt Rossi, away from The Bachelorette. However, Devin Strader was well prepared to quit the entire show if she didn’t snub Matt, and fans do not blame him at all.

The Bachelorette is getting well underway as Jenn develops a bond with contestant, Devin Strader. But there was one guy who got in their way – and it was her ex, Matt, who she immediately turned away.

Devin almost quit The Bachelorette

Devin has admitted he almost quit The Bachelorette when Matt Rossi, Jenn Tran’s ex, showed up. He said he thought the ex would “take Jenn away” if he remained in the competition with Devin.

He claimed he still loved her and hoped for another chance, but Jenn wasn’t having it, telling Matt that she was ready to move on. Devin had also said as much as he liked her, he would not compete with an ex.

“That’s really how I felt,” Devin recalled on The Bachelor Happy Hour podcast. “I like to think through a lot of what I’m going to say rather than blurting out words. In that moment, it was pure emotion for me.”

‘Don’t blame Devin,’ say fans

Viewers watching Devin and Jenn’s romance play out don’t blame him for threatening to quit. He told Bachelor Happy Hour podcast, “I’ve played the ex-games before. It’s been a recurring theme in my life.”

He added, “I wanted Jenn to have the strength to turn all of that away. I am putting it all out there for this woman to see where things could go,” and fans are completely on his side.

One fan wrote, “Yeah if I were him I’d also want my future partner to have their past relationships sorted out before dating me instead of getting dragged into a weird past situationship.”

Another penned, “can’t blame the dude tbh, he said he thought the ex would take her away if he stayed… that’s triggering for people who’ve been cheated on.”

He faced drama with co-stars

Devin had drama with three fellow contestants: Thomas, Sam and Aaron. “It was like every time I breathed, there was a reason to call up arms,” Devin revealed on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast.

“Every time I moved or looked away, there was an issue,” he added. Devin felt as though they made him look like the season villain, but did admit he can act quite petty at times.

“That’s who I am. I’m going to get under your skin and I’m going to see how people act when they’re under pressure, because I think that shows a lot about who you are,” Devin boasted.
