These 90 Day Fiance Breakups Shocked Fans

The 90 Day Fiancé franchise has taken viewers across the globe and showcased the good, bad, and downright ugly of dating long-distance. Viewers have seen Angela Deem and Michael Ilesanmi’s tumultuous marriage crash and burn, Varya Malina navigating life alone after Geoffrey Paschal’s shocking arrest, and Liz Woods sharing NSFW details about her ex, Big Ed.

Throughout the franchise’s long history, viewers can safely say they saw some breakups coming. Whether it was due to culture’s clashing or family members disapproving of these relationships. However, there are a few couples who shocked fans with the announcement that they had split. While they seemed like the perfect pair on TV, fans had no idea what was going on once cameras were no longer following their every move.

Chelsea Macek met Yamir Castillo while she was volunteering in his country of Nicaragua. Chelsea, who hails from Illinois, spotted Yamir performing with his band Myla Vox and the two instantly clicked. Yamir made the huge decision to leave his entire life in Nicaragua behind, including his boy band to move to the U.S. with Chelsea on a K-1 visa. However, trying to have a thriving career in music in the small town Chelsea was from was a major hurdle for Yamir.

Although the couple really looked like they had a lot of love for one another, they had very different goals in life. Yamir wanted to establish his solo music career, which meant moving to a bigger city like Chicago. They decided to call it quits on their marriage after two years.

In Season 5, viewers met couple Evelyn Cormier and David Vazquez, whose relationship seemed pretty normal compared to other 90 Day Fiancé couples. However, one thing fans did notice was their age gap, as Evelyn was only 18, while her soon-to-be husband, David, who hailed from Spain, was 27.

Both Evelyn and David seemed like they would make it out alright, seeing as they both shared a strong religious background. They wed at the end of the season, and later appeared in 90 Day Fiancé: Love Games in 2021. But later that year, Evelyn confirmed with InTouch that she and David had decided to split and made shocking claims about their marriage.

“I’ve endured mental and emotional abuse because of a passionless, sexless, and narcissistic relationship. This is a good reminder that not everything you see on social media is reality.”

As for David, he did not go into specifics about the end of his marriage, but he did deny Evelyn’s accusations. The couple were officially divorced in 2022.

Tania Maduro met South African Syngin Colchester by accident after she had flown to the country to meet someone else. When that didn’t work out, she went to a bar where Syngin was the bartender and the two hit it off.

Tania and Syngin had a lot in common as they were both care-free and loved to have a good time. They eventually wed, but their relationship began to show cracks.

One of the biggest signs of their marriage crumbling was Tanya sharing that she did not believe Syngin was her soulmate while the couple spoke to an astrologist. The two then clashed about their future together. Tania wanted to someday start a family, but Syngin wasn’t on board.

In a very emotional moment captured in 90 Day Fiancé: The Single Life, the two break up with Syngin moving out of her home. During the show’s tell-all in 2022, Tania brought divorce papers for her ex to sign, which he did. The two were then officially over.

4 Jen Boecher And Rishi Singh

90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way Season 4

Jen Boecher made the biggest decision of her life when she packed up all her things and moved from the U.S. to India to be with Rishi Singh. The couple had a 14-year age difference, but that didn’t seem to be an issue for them. However, it turned out to be a huge deal for Rishi’s mother, who was adamant that her son not marry Jen because of her age. On top of that, Rishi did not disclose to his family that he and Jen were engaged.

Jen and Rishi did not get married at the end of the season, but they continued to work through their hardships. The couple appeared in 90 Day Fiancé Diaries Season 5, but when it aired, the couple had already broken up. In November 2023, Rishi shared that he and Jen mutually parted ways and would remain friends.

90 Day Fiancé has seen its fair share of scammers, and it was extremely disheartening to see New York native Daniele Gates become a victim of this when she married Dominican man Yohan Geronimo.

Daniele and Yohan appeared to have a fun-loving relationship, and it was even adorable to see their extreme height difference. Yohan accepted Daniele’s lifestyle, which consisted of making sure everything was saged, and Daniele was accepted into Yohan’s enormous family.

However, this couple’s split was one of the most shocking to ever air on the franchise as Daniele discovered Yohan had been cheating on her throughout their entire relationship. In fact, his mistress DMed her on social media to let her know they were having an affair for two years. More so, Yohan had been stealing her money. Daniele would also learn that he allegedly had over 50 mistresses.

Fans were really digging Julio Moya and Kirsten Schoemaker’s relationship when it aired on the Season 5 spinoff 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way. Hailing from the Netherlands, Kirsten decided to visit Julio to meet his family in New York City, but their plans were set on the couple living together in the Netherlands, which Julio was all for.

However, Julio did not tell his family about the permanent move, and he began having hesitations which totally blindsided Kirsten. He later told Kirsten he wasn’t going forward with the move and basically ended their relationship all on video chat. Kirsten was heartbroken and called him out during the show’s tell-all. In a shocking twist, Julio revealed that Kirsten had allegedly cheated on him, which viewers didn’t see coming.

1 Jibri Bell And Miona Bell

90 Day Fiancé Season 9

Miona Bell and Jibri Bell seemed like the perfect match when they appeared on Season 9 of 90 Day Fiancé. They would match their outfits, and Jibri even understood Miona’s Siberian culture after he had frequently traveled to the country and his best friend was Siberian. The two wed at the end of the season, but it came as a shock when fans learned these two had called it quits after less than three years of marriage.

Fans began to notice something might have happened between Miona and Jibri when they stopped posting photos of one another. On top of that, Jibiri was traveling around Asia in late 2023, while Miona kept busy promoting her hair extension business.

It wasn’t until March, when Jibri uploaded a video of himself rapping, that fans discovered he and Miona were done for good. Miona is now in a relationship with Terzel Ron, while Jibri continues to travel the globe.
