One of the reasons why Jeff Probst has been so successful as Survivor’s host and showrunner is that he believes in storytelling. After all, Survivor seasons can vary in quality depending on how much fans root for the players. As a result, the best seasons for new fans to watch are the ones that feature the most interesting stories.
After Todd Herzog won Survivor: China, he struggled a lot and even accused Dr. Phil’s show of wrongdoing. Then, similar to Survivor players who are medically evacuated and then come back for a new season, Todd has heroically turned his life around in an amazing way.
Survivor’s Todd Herzog Has Turned His Life And Career Around For The Better

Todd would eventually go through some awful times that left everyone who cared about him feeling scared. After all, there was a time that it seemed like Todd was likely to be destined to not survive life as he once did on Survivor.
Fortunately for everyone who was rooting for Todd, it seemed like he accomplished something far more difficult than winning a game. Todd appears to have won in life, as he now seems to be in a great place in his life and career.

‘Survivor’ Winner Nick Wilson Suffered One Of The Strangest Controversies In Reality TV History
‘Survivor’s’ Nick Wilson was at the center of a strange and stunning scandal after he became a politician.
On Todd’s Instagram account, he regularly uploads images of his latest pieces, and they look awesome for Funko fans. Given Todd’s background, it makes sense that a lot of the custom Funko Pop Vinyls that Todd makes revolve around Survivor players. For example, Todd uploaded images of a custom Funko Pop he created that looked like him.
It is also worth noting that Todd has made many custom Funko Pop Vinyls that have nothing to do with Survivor. Todd’s custom pops are also special, since he often makes them with environments for the piece.
As awesome as it is that Todd has found an outlet to express himself, the really great thing has been seeing how his personal life has been transformed. After all, Todd has gone from making his fans worried to making them want to celebrate his recovery.
In November 2020, Todd posted on social media that he’d gotten married. Before that, Distractify reported that Todd had gotten engaged to his boyfriend at the time and his current husband, Jess.
In photos of Todd and Jess that have surfaced online, the couple look extremely happy together. That is fantastic news because there was a time when Todd didn’t look great at all.

Long before Liz Wilcox helped Kenize Petty when a pivotal challenge, Jeff Probst said that was against ‘Survivor’s’ rules.
According to the same report from Distractify, love isn’t the only reason why Todd looked great in his wedding photos. The outlet reported that the former Survivor winner had also gotten sober.
On top of finding happiness with his husband, Todd Herzog appears to have other people who are important to him. For example, in January 2024, Todd’s fellow
Survivor
winner,
Sandra Diaz-Twine posted an image of them looking very happy together
on Instagram. In the caption, Sandra wrote about how much she enjoyed getting together with Todd and how she missed him.
Survivor’s Todd Herzog Accused Dr. Phil’s Producers Of Endangering His Life
Before Todd Herzog got sober, there were several indications of how brutal his battle with addiction was. For Todd’s fans, nothing was more alarming than when he appeared on Dr. Phil and was in horrible shape.
When Todd came out on stage, he was so out of it that he required assistance to walk. On top of that, Todd’s voice was so deeply affected by his state at the time that it didn’t sound like him.
After his Dr. Phil episode aired, Todd made some extremely alarming accusations against the show’s producers. In December 2017, Todd spoke to The Boston Globe and a scientific website called Stat News about his Dr. Phil experience.

Whitney Duncan’s family suffered the kind of true crime tragedy everyone fears just before she competed on ‘Survivor.’
According to Todd, Dr. Phil’s producers left a full bottle of vodka for him to drink backstage. More than that, Todd says someone on the Dr. Phil show’s staff then gave him a Xanax to take after downing the full bottle of vodka. Todd says that person told him the Xanax would “calm his nerves”.
If Todd’s allegations were true, it would undeniably be extremely reckless to give an addict those things. The fact that Todd survived and now looks more like the version of himself fans saw on Survivor doesn’t make his allegations any less serious.
In response to Todd’s allegations, a psychologist who worked on the Dr. Phil show provided The Boston Globe and Stat News with a statement. That psychologist, who is named Martin Greenberg, completely denied Todd’s allegations.
“We do not do that with this guest or any other.”
Greenberg went on to call Todd’s allegations, “absolutely, unequivocally untrue”.
