“This is the season to take big swings,” says a Challenge season 40 cast member. “A whole new game” is here this August that sees “legends and OGs” return for a competition like no other. Ready and raring to go for battle in season 40 is a returning Challenge star, Derrick Kosinski.
The best of the best The Challenge players are all under one roof competing for a $1 million prize. Not only that but there’s the title of Battle of the Eras winner to consider, too. Four Eras are represented by tough competitors. Everyone from CT to Tina, Johnny Bananas, and Cara Maria is appearing in the all-new episodes kicking off from August 14.
Derrick Kosinski goes down memory lane
“A lot of history and a lot of trash talk” is set to resurface as some stars declare “war” on one another in the Battle of the Eras trailer.
Before the new season kicks off, MTV takes a trip down memory lane with some of the OG stars including Derrick.
Looking back at his first moments on Road Rules, Derrick recalls some funny, and not-so-funny times from almost 30 years ago.
His co-stars say he “looked cute, like a little Leo DiCaprio,” in his younger years.
Derrick had some dramatic accidents to deal with in his early days of fame. Within about one minute, the throwback footage shows two incidents.
One clip sees Derrick pick up one of his female costars before tumbling to the ground. Jodi Weatherton says: “This is when Derrick hurt his knee, you actually really got hurt doing that.”
Derrick crashes an RV
The throwback footage then cuts to Derrick driving an RV.
His co-stars ask: “Uh oh, is this going to be you crashing?” before Derrick shouts: “Oh yeah, kids don’t try this at home.”
The RV is seen crashing and more cast members say: “Oh, the accident, I remember that.”
Road Rules footage of Derrick plays: “I stopped the RV, I look up and I’m just like.. what the hell is that.”
In the confessional, Derrick says he has a “f***ed-up lip,” before Jodi chimes in: “Look at you trying to grow some facial hair.”
Giving some context on why the RV crashed, a fan took to Reddit: “I think a tree branch literally just fell in front of the RV when he was driving. He didn’t crash it from being reckless or anything IIRC. Just wrong place at the wrong time lol.”
Another replies: “That was it. And then they had to use like.. a busted down sh***y Winnie that stank while it was being repaired…”
