Minister for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Mr Zaphaniah Jisalo, has aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other well meaning Nigerians in appealing to those protesting against hunger to shelve it and have confidence in the present administration’s capacity to address the challenges confronting the country.
Jisalo, who made the appeal while briefing the press Tuesday in Abuja, said since taking over in May 2023, there have been some economic challenges facing the country which President Tinubu is gradually addressing by implementing policies that would in the future bring relief to all Nigerians.
He stated that some of the Issues highlighted by those behind the proposed protest are political while others are constitutional matters that will be addressed through constitutional amendment which is currently ongoing at the National Assembly.
His words: “We don’t need any form of protest now in Nigeria because the President is doing everything possible to reposition the country with his various laudable policies and programmes aimed at ensuring national economic development, food sufficiency, security among others hence the need for all stakeholders to support his administration towards actualizing the renewed hope agenda for Nigerians.”
He urged those protesting to have confidence in President Tinubu’s unrelenting efforts in repositioning the country assuring Nigerians that the challenges would soon be over through joint efforts and support of all stakeholders.
The minister expressed the hope that with the collective support of all Nigerians, the country would soon overcome its challenges and take its rightful place among communities of nations.
“I strongly believe that what we’re currently passing through will soon be over as all hands are on deck under President Bola Tinubu’s led administration to make sure that the renewed hope agenda is actualized in all sectors of the country thereby making Nigeria a nation to be proud of by all citizens irrespective of tribes, religion or political differences,” he added
