The finish to the 2024 Cook Out 400 at Richmond saw two of the best drivers ever in the track history facing their worst nightmare. Richard Childress Racing No:8 Chevy driver Austin Dillon won the race, wrecking Joe Gibbs Racing’s Denny Hamlin and Team Penske Racing’s Joey Logano on the finale corner of the race.
Denny Hamlin is furious with the move pulled off by Austin Dillon. He asserted that the RCR driver crossed the limit with his moves at Richmond but admitted that the line being invincible and not well defied favors him. Hamlin reckons despite the provisions they, NSASCAR never penalizes drivers for such moves and expect the same to happen this time as well.

Absolutely a line was crossed. But it’s an invisible line and it’s not defined. I mean they have rules and provisions for stuff like this, but they never take action for it.Denny Hamlin told NBC.
The veteran pointed out that the move was a foul but NASCAR often sees it as fair. He sarcastically pointed out that NASCAR often rewards rough driving as there are never penalties for it. This lack of initiative from NASCAR is why Dillon did whatever he wants.
It’s obviously foul, but it’s fair in NASCAR. We’re just a different league, right, where there is no penalties for rough driving or anything like that. So, it opens up the opportunity for Austin to be able to just do whatever he wants.Denny Hamlin added.
Denny Hamin warns Austin Dillon about payback
The veteran driver pointed out that since it helped Austin Dillon to move up from P32 in the points table to the playoffs, the risk was worth taking for him. But on the other hand, he reminded the RCR driver that, he can’t go deep into the playoff because of his actions.
I don’t know. I mean, the record book won’t care, right, about what happened. He’s going to be credited with the win, but obviously he’s just not going to go far because you’ve got to pay your dues back on stuff like that. But it’s worth it because they jump 20 positions of points.Denny Hamlin said.
The finishes of remaining 13 2024 Cup races would depend upon how NASCAR would approach this incident. If they let it go, its 1oo% sure that the drivers who are in such desperate situation like Dillon, will not hesitate to wreck the leaders for the race win.
