Big Brother 26 contestants, Rubina and Joseph, aren’t getting the air time fans want. As they’re drama-free, their diary room confessionals are barely shown and so viewers think they’re being ‘purpled’.
Similar to how Kelly on Survivor was ‘purpled’, there’s a theory that Rubina and Joseph are being left out of footage. Big Brother fans are gutted about the rarity of seeing the two in the diary room.
Rubina and Joseph ‘getting purpled’
A term called ‘getting purpled’ has been brought up as Rubina Bernabe and Joseph Rodriguez have little air time on Big Brother 26. Fans are referring to the moment Survivor star, Kelly, left the show.
Getting ‘purpled’ essentially means a player is almost made invisible due to a season edit. Viewers believe that’s what’s happening to Rubina and Joseph, the same way Kelly barely got air time.
One fan wrote, “Rubina and Joseph are being ‘purpled’. Similar to Kelly in survivor, I have not seen a Joseph or Rubina diary room confessional in a while. Wondering if anyone else noticed this?”

A purpled contestant is someone who gets less than one confessional per episode, and Kelly is believed to be one of them on Survivor. She then decided to quit the show altogether.
Luckily though, Big Brother has live feeds allowing viewers to watch all of the contestants rather than by showing them an edit. Rubina, for example, has not received a single diary room clip for a whole week.
BB26 fans want more air time
Big Brother fans want Rubina and Joseph to receive more air time. However, because they aren’t bringing any current drama to the house, CBS isn’t giving them the diary room confessionals fans want.
One viewer wrote on a Reddit thread: “I think this shows BB wants a storylines for episodes and Rubina and Joseph aren’t in the current storyline so they are getting no airtime.”
Another said: “When the crowd thins out, there will be more time to air the players that are currently being purpled. They won’t stay purpled for long. Same thing happened to Andy and he won his season.”
