Police seek help in finding two Mamelodi missing persons

Mamelodi east police have asked the public to help them locate the missing man and woman.

Maria Mokwena (23) of extension 10, Phase 3 in Mamelodi east went missing on December 3 and Thabang Mahlangu of Phomolong, Mamelodi east the following day.

Mokwena was last seen wearing a blue shirt, black pants and white and navy striped sneakers,” said police spokesperson Constable Penelope Khulong.

She described her as slim, of average height and a fair complexion.

“Her mother Alice Mokwena, who reported her missing, said her daughter had told her she was going to the mall to withdraw some cash,” said Khulong.

And as it got dark without her, she said she had called her but “her cellphone was off and has not been seen since”.

Mahlangu wore a black t-shirt, black denim and jacket as well as brown slippers.

Mother, Linah Mahlangu said she last saw him at the end of his court appearance in the Mamelodi magistrate’s court.

He did not return home.

Thabang Mahlangu from Phomolong, Mamelodi east went missing on 4 December.

“She alleged that the following day, on Tuesday December 5, an unknown man had called to to offer to take him to a rehabilitation centre and asked for payment to do this,” said Khulong.

Linah said suspected the man might know where her son was.

“There is no waiting period to report a missing person,” Khulong said.
