Netflix adds renovation show where celebrities part with millions without a blink of an eye

“This is Los Angeles, where money and style are everything.” The opening line to Million Dollar Decorators really sets the tone for what’s to come in the show’s very first season. The throwback show is a new addition to Netflix, 12 years on from when it first aired.

Despite Million Dollar Decorators being a hit in its heyday, it only ran for two seasons. The home renovation show oozes luxury as the featured designers work their magic on celebrities’ properties. Martyn Lawrence Bullard reveals some of his famous clients in episode 1 including Cher, Sharon Osbourne, and Elton John.

Netflix adds Million Dollar Decorators

November 15 sees many people settling into the festive season, but before all of Netflix‘s releases arrive covered in tinsel, the streaming service is adding some throwback reality shows that went down a storm.

Back in 2011, Million Dollar Decorators premiered on Bravo.

Now, season 1 has been added to Netflix and it used to have fans “obsessed.” The show transports viewers to sunny Los Angeles as home renovation specialists get to work on houses worth millions.

Show’s lawsuit drama

Million Dollar Listing may have only run for two seasons, but all the episodes were filled with drama.

One of the show’s designers, Martyn Lawrence Bullard, had a lawsuit lodged against him in 2011 for one of his design elements, writes The Hollywood Reporter.

The report states a photographer named Michael Eastman sued Martyn, as well as Warner Bros, and NBC Universal “for allegedly blowing up a photo and using it on the show without permission.”

The photo, “Isabella Two Chairs, 1999”, is seen in episode 5 when Martyn designs actress Daisy Fuentes’ living room.

Another Hollywood Reporter article, published in September 2011, concluded: “A federal judge in Missouri has denied a photographer’s request for an injunction…”

Million Dollar Decorators features Jeffrey Alan Marks (@jeffreymarksinc), who describes himself as a “trendsetter.” He’s now a dad as well as a design boss.

Mary McDonald is oozing “glamour” in everything she does in season 1 and it looks like she’s still designing these days, per her Instagram page @marymcdonaldinc.

Martyn is another main cast member and designer on the show. He explains his clients have included Christina Aguilera, Cher, and Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne.

Martyn says: “I’m here to find your fantasy and make that a reality.”

Kathryn Ireland appears on Million Dollar Decorators. She writes on her IG page: “Interior & Textile Designer, Author, Mother of 3 boys,” and reveals that she has a book out this year.

Nathan Turner is also still designing today and can be found on Instagram at @nturnerdesign.
