BAFTA award-winning actor and comedian Lenny Rush’s age may come as a surprise to some people tuning into Children in Need this year. The annual fundraising event kicks off at 7 pm on BBC One on November 17 and sees many former hosts returning. Lenny is the youngest, and newest addition to the presenting team.
This year, Vernon Kay is raising millions for Children in Need 2023 by running an ultra-marathon over the course of four days. More celebrities involved in this year’s event include Mel Giedroyc, Ade Adepitan, Chris Ramsey, Alex Scott, and Jason Manford.
Lenny Rush’s age
At just 14 years old, actor and comedian Lenny is making Children in Need history this year.
He was born in Burnham-on-Crouch, Essex in March 2009.
Never before has the fundraising event had such a young presenter on the show. He’s set to take to the screen alongside Mel, Ade, and co on Friday night.
This year’s Children in Need appeal will air on TV for three hours and begins at 7 pm.
Lenny was on Children in Need before
This year, Lenny Rush is making history as Children in Need’s youngest presenter.
But, it’s not the first time he’s been involved with the appeal as last year he appeared in a call centre sketch.
Lenny rose to fame as an actor in TV series such as Apple Tree House, A Christmas Carol, and Dodger.
This year, he won a BAFTA for Best Male Comedy Performance for playing the role of Ollie in BBC‘s Am I Being Unreasonable?.
Lenny ‘proud’ to represent disabled community
Fourteen-year-old Lenny was born with a condition called Spondyloepiphyseal Dysplasia Congenita, which affects his growth, resulting in dwarfism.
Speaking to Metro UK last year, Lenny said that he was “proud” to represent the disabled community.
He said: “It’s still quite rare to see, in my opinion. Hopefully, it brings more people in… I think it’s good for mums as well, if they’ve got any kids with a disability and it seems like the worst, they’ll be able to see people like me and feel they will get out of it and it will be good.”
