Prey (2022) was filmed where?

The fifth entry in the Predator series from Jim Thomas and John Thomas, Prey is a sci-fi action film directed by Dan Trachtenberg and serves as a prequel to the first four entries in the popular genre. The story, set 300 years ago in the Comanche Nation, revolves around a young and very talented warrior named Naru. As danger nears her camp, Naru uses all of her knowledge and experience, having grown up in the shadows of some of the Great Plains’ legendary hunters. She embarks on a mission and hunts down the prey that poses a threat to the safety of everyone in her camp in order to defend her people.

After chasing the prey and finally coming face to face with it, Naru learns that it is one of the technologically advanced, highly advanced predators. As a result, the two sides engage in a titanic battle and a dramatic showdown. The action-packed story is complemented perfectly with outstanding performances by a talented ensemble cast that includes Amber Midthunder, Dakota Beavers, Dane DiLiegro and Stormee Kipp. The setting of the story and the creative use of backgrounds throughout the film can pique your interest in addition to the engaging plot. Filming locations for loot

The entire province of Alberta served as a filming location for “Prey”, specifically Calgary, Rafter Six Ranch and Stoney Nakoda First Nation. The film crew was scheduled to begin production on the film in May 2021. However, principal filming began in June 2021 and, after a delay, ended in September of the same year. Before the film was titled Prey, the production title was Skulls.

Jhane Myers, the film’s producer, was asked in an August 2022 interview with Screen Rant what is the most intriguing aspect of a Predator movie’s setting today. “It was incredibly exciting for me because this is your first opportunity to face the Predator [fiercest] Warriors across America before America was even there,” he replied. Just watching my culture, the Comanche culture and the Comanche warriors fighting the Predator is so exhilarating. Alberta, a province in western Canada bordering British Columbia to the west, is known for its natural splendor, richness in fossils and the presence of various nature reserves. All of these elements made it the ideal place to shoot a movie like Prey.

Alberta’s Calgary

Several key scenes for “Prey” were filmed in and around Calgary, a sizeable city in Alberta, Canada. It appears that the sci-fi film’s cast and crew have traveled the city and used the filming locations to shoot various scenes in suitable settings. In addition to Prey, Calgary has played a significant role in the filming of numerous other projects, including Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Interstellar, Joe Pickett, and Under the Banner of Heaven.

Other places in Alberta

The Stoney Nakoda First Nation, west of Calgary and at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, served as a location for additional scenes for the sci-fi film. In addition, the action film was shot extensively at the Rafter Six Ranch. It is a ranch in the hamlet of Exshaw, Alberta.
