BREAKING: Wike Cleared by Senate for Ministerial Position

Former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has been cleared by the Senate for a ministerial position.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Wike was screened by the Senate Committee on Screening and Ethics on Monday, and he was told to bow and take a leave.

During his screening, Wike told the Senate that President Bola Tinubu won’t regret nominating him to serve as a minister in his cabinet. He said that he is a team player and that he is confident that he will be able to work with other members of the cabinet to achieve Tinubu’s goals for the country.

Wike is the only chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the ministerial list sent by the President to the Senate last Thursday.

He told the Senators that during his time as governor of the oil-rich Niger Delta state from May 2015 to May 2023, he started and completed many projects to improve the infrastructure of the state. He also said that he invited politicians across party lines to commission the projects.

Wike arrived at the Senate with his wife and supporters.
