Breaking: Fintiri declares 24-hour curfew as hoodlums loot government property, shops in Adamawa

Governor Fintiri

In what appeared like a repeat of the #EndSARS scenario and to curtail total break down of law and order, Govervor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa state has declared a 24-hour curfew through out the state.

The governor’s decision to lock up the state followed an early morning attacks on some government warehouses by group of hungry and angry youths, acting like hoodlums.

Blueprint reports that the hoodlums layed siege to some government property in Yola, the state capital where food items and other valuables were kept and looted them.

The youths who stormed the affected warehouses in their numbers carrying and brandishing dangerious weapons succeeded in carting away food items, mattresses, generators, pumping machines, among many other valuables before security agencies including soldiers were drafted to bring the situation under control and prevent further looting of the properties.

Some of the youths who were seen carting away looted items attributed their decision to untold hardship and anger which the government has forced them into.

One of them told blueprint that “Government should blame itself for what happened and what will happen. They make life almost impossible for us and make us beggers in our own country where did they expect us to go and survive.

“There is no food to eat, there is high cost of living, poverty everywhere, no jobs and no hopes for us the ordinary citizens. They are busy looting our resources yet is not enough for them, they keep on coming out with ungodly policies that keep on worsening our situation. How do they expect us to survive?

To stop the crisis from escalating, governor fintiri quickly moved in by declaring 24 hours curfew in the state.

The governor’s decision was contained in a press statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary Humwashi Wonosikou and made available to Blueprint in Yola.

The statement noted that the governor’s decision followed the dangerous dimension the activities of the hoodlums have assumed across the state capital as they attack people with matchets and other dangerous weapons and breaking into business premises to cart away proparties.

The statement further added that with the imposition of the curfew, there will be no movement throughout the state, only those on essential duties with valid identification would be permitted to move around during the period.
