Soccer Adds Ella Holland to 2023 Roster

YPSILANTI, Mich. ( — The Eastern Michigan University soccer program has added Ella Holland (Dunwoody, Ga.-Dunwoody-Samford) to the 2023 roster, Head Coach Scott Hall announced today, June 5. Holland, a goalkeeper, comes to Ypsilanti after redshirting her freshman season at Samford University in 2022.
“We are excited to add Ella to our team as she fits well with our core values,” Hall said. “She is a quick and athletic shot-stopper and has a great range of passing with her feet. We know the competition will create a solid core of future goalkeepers here at EMU.”
Holland spent last season with a Bulldogs team that captured the 2023 Southern Conference regular season and tournament crowns. Samford advanced to the NCAA Tournament, where they fell to Georgia in the first round.
A 2022 graduate of Dunwoody High School in Dunwoody, Ga., Holland was a four-year varsity player and captained the squad her senior season. Between the posts, she was named first-team all-region after helping her team to the 7A Region Championship as a senior. She also was named the 7A Goalkeeper of the Year as a junior. Holland also played for the club side Atlanta Fire United for seven seasons, helping her team compete in numerous ECNL showcases and the ECNL National Tournament.
Holland’s addition is the ninth for the Eagles as she joins eight recent high school graduates on the 2023 roster.
