Eastern Illinois football head coach Chris Wilkerson has announced the hiring of David Brubaker as the Panthers new Director of Football Operations.
Brubaker comes to EIU after working last season at Morehead State as the Director of Football Administration and assistant offensive line coach.
“I’m extremely excited about the hiring of David Brubaker. Coach Brubaker brings a wealth of experience to our program. He has been around some amazing people and organizations with experiences at Morehead State, Lehigh University and Penn State,” said Wilkerson. “We’re thrilled to have him lead our support staff and help us continue to improve. Besides being extremely organized and a tireless worker, he is a fantastic person. We have no doubt that the addition of Coach Brubaker will be beneficial to our players, staff, and program.”
Brubaker started his career as a recruiting and coaching intern at Penn State, where he was a 2019 graduate. His main responsibilities were compiling data for coaches and working pre-game and post-game operations.
Following two years working in the Penn State program, Brubaker joined the staff at Lehigh University working in football operations, special teams analyst and recruiting quality control. As a special teams analyst he helped with a special teams unit that ranked No. 1 in the FCS in Blocked Punts. Brubaker was on the staff at Lehigh for the 2020 season impacted by COVID and the 2021 season.
During the 2022 season Brubaker joined the staff at Morehead State handling football operations which included serving as the liaison for facility management, day-to-day in-office operations, travel, recruiting and all aspects associated with road football games.
Brubaker has additional coaching experience at Warwick Senior High School as a volunteer defensive line coach.
