Sara Beth Liebe quit “American Idol” following Katy Perry’s “mom-shaming” comments.
“This opportunity is really rad, but this is actually gonna be my last performance ’cause my heart’s at home,” the 25-year-old mother of three told Perry and co-judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan Sunday night after her first Hollywood Week performance of The Police’s “Roxanne.”
“So I’m gonna get home to my babies. They kinda need me. So thank you,” she added before rushing off the stage.
The announcement shocked and confused the judges, who urged the musician to come back and hear them out.
“Sara Beth, I know life is scary. I also know that it’s easier to walk away than to be rejected,” Perry, who shares 2-year-old daughter Daisy with fiancé Orlando Bloom, told her. “But then I also know that you lose out on your fullest potential.”
Trying to relate to Liebe “as a mother,” the Grammy nominee added, “Remember that self-love is just as big as motherly love. Don’t leave the competition.”
Even though Liebe made it through to the next round, she decided to bow out anyway, saying she wished her kids “were a little older.”
“I’m sure that when I get home, I’ll regret it,” the talented hopeful admitted to the camera.
After learning of Liebe’s definitive departure, Perry, 38, let out, “Man, that sucks. It’s not easy for anyone. Everyone has their own story.”

Despite her kind words at the moment, Liebe was previously put off by a “joke” the “Firework” singer made during her initial audition.
After she told Perry, Richie and Bryan her age and that she had three children, the “Hot N Col” hitmaker stood up in shock.
“If Katy lays on the table, I think I’m gonna pass out,” Liebe said, to which Perry replied, “Honey, you’ve been laying on the table too much.”
After the remark went viral for all the wrong reasons, the young mom took to social media to explain, “It was embarrassing to have that on TV, and it was hurtful.”
She added, “I think that women supporting and uplifting other women is so cool, and I think that mom-shaming is super lame.”
Perry has neither spoken on the matter nor responded to Page Six’s request for comment.
