As the only two teams that didn’t play on Tuesday, the White Sox and Giants should be well rested ahead of Wednesday’s clash in Chicago.
They’ll need all the preparation they can get for the two starters on the mound.
White Sox starter Dylan Cease broke out in a big way in 2022, ranking third in all of baseball in ERA (2.20) and fifth in strikeout rate (30.4 percent) with the second-lowest zone contact rate (79.5 percent).
His efforts earned him a runner-up finish for AL Cy Young, though many were skeptical of a looming regression.
We haven’t seen any signs of that so far.
Giants vs. White Sox pick

Cease was sensational on Opening Day, striking out 10 Astros across 6¹/₃ innings.
At one point, he retired 19 consecutive batters before getting lifted in the seventh inning of a scoreless tie, having allowed just three base runners total to that point.
Logan Webb wasn’t quite as spectacular in his season debut at Yankee Stadium, but he still finished with a ridiculous 12 strikeouts — tied for the most by any starter this season entering Tuesday.

He did give up four runs, including a solo shot to Aaron Judge on the home run king’s first at-bat of the season, but his stuff was clearly working for most of Thursday’s start.
Both of these teams had a winning record to the under last year with these hurlers on the mound.
Expect another low-scoring affair on Wednesday.
