Louisiana’s Lainey Wilson was the prom queen at Sunday night’s 2023 CMT Music Awards. She brought home two awards and gave several performances for audiences in Austin, Texas.
At her first CMTs, the 30-year-old singer-songwriter won Female Video of the Year for “Heart Like a Truck” from her 2022 album Bell Bottom Country and shared honors for Collaborative Video of the Year. with Mississippi-born artist HARDY for “Wait in the Truck.”
Emerging artist Chapel Hart, who grew up in Mississippi but now makes her home in New Orleans, performed at pre-award events over the weekend. The trio performed on the Ram Trucks Side Stage on Saturday.
