Well, it’s not as if Louisiana hasn’t also had its share of big-money lottery winners in the last three or four weeks. In fact, nearly $650,000 in lottery prizes was won from tickets sold in the state last month. And that only counts tickets with prizes of $20,000 or more.

Last night’s big win didn’t come in the Powerball game either. None of the tickets sold for last night’s Powerball matched the numbers required to win the game’s $170.4 million grand prize. If you missed the drawing, here’s how it turned out.
The Powerball website also confirmed that no ticket won the match-5 prizes in yesterday’s draw either. However, it was determined that 24 tickets sold in Louisiana for last night’s Powerball were winners of a prize of $100 or more. So if you played Powerball last night, check your numbers.
Last night’s big win came in the lottery game sponsored by the Louisiana Lottery. That game hadn’t produced a jackpot winner since January 7 of this year, when a ticket sold in New Orleans netted a jackpot of more than $3.3 million. This January winner was sold at the Lakeview Grocery on Harrison Avenue.

Last night’s $1.25 million lottery winner was also sold in the greater New Orleans area. The Louisiana Lottery official website only confirmed that the ticket was sold in Metairie earlier this morning. We were to learn more about where in Metairie the ticket was sold later today.
This means the lottery jackpot for Saturday’s drawing is now reset to $500,000. Also on Saturday, as previously mentioned, the Powerball will be worth $186 million. The Easy 5 jackpot will be worth $70,000. The Easy 5 game was a back-to-back winner at the end of March, so the jackpot is just starting to grow from its initial $50,000.
