BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Thursday, April 6 marks a somber day in the capital as many honor the lives of two fallen Baton Rouge police officers who died while responding to a community pursuit on Sunday, March 26 West Baton Rouge followed.
Sergeant David Poirrier and Cpl. Scotty Canezaro were pilots and were on a helicopter this Sunday to assist in a vehicle pursuit. Eventually, as the pursuit broke into another community, the pilots were pulled away from the pursuit. Their plane crashed in West Baton Rouge Parish while flying back to Baton Rouge.
Services for the two fallen officers will be held at Istrouma Baptist Church on Thursday, April 6. The visit begins at 9:00 am and the memorial service is at 11:00 am. You are cordially invited to join the families and colleagues as they remember and honor these fallen officers.

Full Canezaro had been with the force for 16 years and Sgt Poirrier had been with the Baton Rouge Police Department for 17 years.
Sergeant Poirrier also served with the Denham Springs Police Department from 1999 to 2006. He was once named Officer of the Year.
He worked in the Baton Rouge Police Department’s Air Support Unit, doing what he loved every day. He has worked hard to protect his community and loved ones in ministry.
The same goes for Cpl. Canezaro. He never met a stranger and was known for living life to the fullest.
He also had a great influence on children and schools.
