Top-ranked Class 6A boys’ soccer squad Fort Payne jumped back into first place in the AHSAA soccer coaches’ “Super Poll” this week, moving past Oak Mountain. The Wildcats had been supplanted at the top by Oak Mountain last week, but Fort Payne – riding an 11-0-2 streak since Feb. 11 – climbed back to No. 1.
The Week 9 poll features the fourth Super Poll – the top soccer teams regardless of classification – and Fort Payne has been atop the ranking twice, with Oak Mountain holding the spot in Week 3 with Grissom ranked No. 1 in the first week.
Vestavia Hills is the top team in the girls’ Super Poll for the second straight week after the first two polls with Oak Mountain as No. 1.
There was only one change in the rankings in the five classifications with Springville’s girls moving to No. 1 in Class 5A over now No. 2 Marbury. Springville is 11-1 while Marbury is 14-1.
