LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) – The rain has now left southwest Louisiana, leaving the region with a dry Easter. Our Sunday weather appears to be quite similar to Saturday with clouds and a chilly start to the mornings with some sunsets later in the day to warm us up. High temperatures are likely to be near 70 degrees in the afternoon. Again, we don’t have to worry about rain at Easter, which means gatherings are looking good!

A high-level disruption is approaching our region on Monday, which means a lot. This will make our Monday weather pretty close to a repeat of the weekend weather. But eventually, it will also mean the chance of rain returning to Southwest Louisiana.
A higher level disturbance may bring some showers Tuesday through Wednesday. (KPLC)
The disturbance will move overhead in Tuesday’s time frame and could help trigger a few showers during the day, particularly closer to shore. However, we must closely monitor the exact location of the low. Next week, the models are still divided on exactly where the negative pressure ends. Should it hang closer to shore on Wednesday, we could face an extended spell of showers and cooler temperatures. But if it ends farther south and east of us, we’ll have fewer clouds and showers. Therefore, a few isolated showers are forecast for the time being from Tuesday to Wednesday.

Fortunately, this low pressure is moving northeast through Thursday, with the chance of rain decreasing through then and Friday. Temperatures are also likely to return to the 80s around this time. After that, another cold front could try to develop closer to the west of us next weekend, with the likelihood of showers or storms returning around that time.
