BREAKING: Nigeria drops position in latest FIFA rankings

Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, have experienced a decline in the latest FIFA rankings, dropping five spots to 40th position.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the national team is now the sixth-best team in Africa, with Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria, and Egypt ahead of them.

In contrast, Morocco, who made it to the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup, remain in the 11th spot globally, despite their win against Brazil. Brazil, on the other hand, has dropped to third place in the rankings, displaced from the top spot by the World Cup champions, Argentina.

France has climbed to second place after securing two victories against Netherlands and Ireland in the last round of EUROS qualifiers. Belgium, England, Netherlands, Croatia, Italy, Portugal, and Spain complete the top ten.

The Super Eagles would have to stage a strong comeback in their upcoming fixtures to regain their status as one of Africa’s top footballing nations when the world rankings are again released for the following month.
